Stick a fork in it - it's done!

The Newark Valley Class of 1973 50th Reunion is now in the history books! A total of 42 classmates attended one or more of the events during the weekend (almost 40% of the entire class!) 

The weekend kicked off with a mixer at Randy Lacey's Hopshire Farm and Brewery. In addition to some excellent beer, Randy, along with classmates Ron Woodard and Phil Emerson regaled everyone with great live music!

The class was Grand Marshal at the Homecoming Parade Saturday morning leading the entire parade through the village. At the football game half-time, we were honored on the field where 13 white balloons were released in memory of those classmates we've lost over the last 50 years.

The class joined back up Saturday evening for a wonderful buffet at Donoli's with many surprises and gifts. In addition, the class was honored to have Frank Schmidt, Bob Nelson, Jewel Griffith, and Warren Gray join us for dinner Saturday evening.

After a delicious Sunday brunch at the Fire Hall, Ed Mertson and his dad (our Mr. Mertson) opened up the High School building for a tour. There's been many changes over the past decades but the building is still very recognizable as the same high school building we spent 3 years in.

The Next Reunion

Several classmates are already asking about plans for the next reunion! Your feedback as to the timing and location is very welcome. Please drop a note to newarkvalleyclassof73@gmail.com with any suggestions you might have.

Classmate Contact List

Please remember that you can contact any classmate directly on the website via the "Send a message" button on the Classmates page. This will cause an email to be sent with your message from nvhs1973.org to the other classmate.

Several classmates have asked if there will be a classmate contact list available to share. When you registered for the website, you were asked to provide your address, email info, and phone number but we did not ask if you were willing to make this info available to other classmates. If you do not want this contact info shared, please send a note to newarkvalleyclassof73@gmail.com. Otherwise, we will assume you do not object to having your contact info being made available to others in the class.

Some other miscellaneous bits...

1. Many of you asked about the music playing at the various events at the Reunion. The mixes were put together by Kirk Smith using just that music that was released and popular during our 4 years of high school. If you would like to listen (and teach your grandkids what great music actually sounds like), you can download them by visiting this link. This will open a page where you can download the various MP3 files to enjoy. (Ask your grandkids for help on how!)
2. A copy of the Class of 1973 Yearbook is available in PDF format by clicking on this link.
3. Linda Lewis was kind enough to bring her scrapbook full of memories and great pics to the reunion. Afterwards, she allowed it to be scanned in the PDF for everyone to enjoy. It can be found by clicking on this link. (Warning: it's a big file!)

Website Status and Update

The good news is that nvhs193.org will remain online and available for the forseeable future! Save this page to your favorites and keep returning to see what's new as your fellow classmates add photos, tributes and other memories of our years together in Newark Valley High School. In fact, take some time to dig out those old pictures you might have saved in that shoebox sitting on the shelf in the closet and add them to the web site for everyone to enjoy. 

If you haven't already joined, please click the Register button above and create your login which is needed to view much of the site. Over half of your classmates have registered already; why not join them and take a look around? If someone you'd like to see and catch up with has not registered yet, why not bug 'em to encourage them to register here?

Regarding Donations...

To those who very generously donated, the committee expresses our thank you on behalf of the entire class!  The amount donated was sufficient to pay for all of the expenses incurred to bring you the Reunion with enough left over to ensure the website will remain online for the next few years!
