Thanks for letting a few 1974 classmates crash your party last night. What a great event and turnout! Kudos to the Reunion Committee for how they are executing this weekend. Randy your band and establishment are wonderful. If the class of 1974 can accomplish half of the results you have we will feel blessed. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Go Cardinals!

FYI for those of us riding the “float” in the Homecoming parade - traditionally many participants throw penny candy to the children along the parade route. If anyone feels inclined to do so, please be sure to stock up and bring your bag(s) of candy with you that morning!

Thank you for the invitation to attend the Class of 1973’s 50th Reunion. Unfortunately, I will be chaperoning our Homecoming Dance on Saturday evening, making sure our next generation of alumni have a memorable night! I appreciate the kind gesture of including me in your celebration of 50 years. As principal, it’s been extremely interesting to meet alumni (I attended the Class of 1953’s 70th Class Reunion this summer). While each class has a unique Cardinal Spirit, it’s very powerful to know that the Cardinal Spirit continues to thrive in all our alumni as well as our current students. I wish you the best for your reunion and if there is anything you need, please let me know. Ed Mertson

Thank you for this most unexpected invitation. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend. The school year of '72-'73 was my first year of teaching at Newark Valley, ten years after having graduated from NVCS myself (yes my 60th v. your 50th!) It was a thrill to teach alongside some of your favorite teachers, among them Kip Steinkamp, Nick Rucco, Ed Orokos, Warren Gray, and my favorite coach, John George. I am sure you have many of your own favorite personal memories, which you have cherished throughout the years and will enjoy sharing at your 50th reunion. If anything changes, I assure you that I would enjoy nothing more than hearing those stories. Go Cardinals! Regretfully, Gordie Lewis

Hi to all of my friends in the class of 1973! Congrats on your 50th reunion this year! I am sure you are going to have a blast reconnecting with each other! I have a lot of great memories of a number of you, whether it was in band, doing the musicals (Remember "Bye Bye Birdie"?), football games and just day to day life around the school! We are eagerly watching what your class does, as we have our own 50th reunion coming up in 2024. Enjoy every minute of your reunion, and all the best to you all! Julie Thompson Sorcek Class of 1974

Hi! Bob Dexter here! Welcome to 50 years! 1973 was my first year teaching at Newark Valley. Spent the remaining 32 years their teaching and administrative work! A great experience! I'm also a member of the Newark Valley scholarship committee. As you may know, we host a "scholarship concert" each fall to fund our annual scholarships for graduates the following year. This year the concert is scheduled for October 21,2023. There has been some questions whether or not the concert could be held the same weekend as homecoming Because of scheduling, we found it necessary keep our concert date separate from homecoming weekend I hope your reunion will be a memorable one and everyone has a safe weekend. If anyone has questions about the scheduling conflict, please direct them to me. Thanks so much and happy planning! Bob
